A beautiful parrot at the Indianapolis Zoo
Before the Emu became the marketing character for Liberty Mutual Insurance...Limu lived at the St. Paul Zoo, November, 2016.
A Cooper's hawk standing on our patio outside our kitchen window (hence the soft focus). He/she was standing on the starling it had just caught, which I figured I didn't need to include in the picture. He was looking around, and I made a noise and he looked in the window directly at me...I'm glad I'm not small enough for him to catch!
Gray Squirrel on our patio birdbath. They used to be rare around our neck of the woods, but now they and the red squirrels are about 50-50.
A Praying Mantis that I tracked over a period of months a couple of years ago. He lived on one particular weed in our yard that I left in place just for her/him. He was just a little over an inch long; I was shooting with a close-up lens.
A 2020 white-tailed deer fawn. They are wary of us, as they should be, but they also don't see us if we're hiding behind a hydrangea. But he/she could hear the camera, and our granddaughter and me talking...
A large and terrifying fly in Raiders' Black and Silver...
Grasshopper catching some late-season rays on our bridge.
Opossum eating bird food on our patio during the winter.
Koi emerging from the primordial chaos...inside the Conservatory at the St. Paul, MN, Zoo, November, 2016.
An anole, a south Texas lizard, sunning on a log at Estero Llano Grande State Park, Texas.
Sometimes, you find eyes looking back at you from places that are completely nuts...
