Hello, I'm an animist, and that doesn't mean
what you probably think it means...
...and you'll find a discussion of that under "My Animism."
In some ways, my being an animist (modern or otherwise) has almost nothing to do with me and what you will find here. I could say nothing about it at all, and you'd still see and understand pretty much everything I'm putting on display.
In other ways, though, animism has everything to do with who I am, and what I'm putting out on this website...in much the same way that for many Christians, it is important to understand their Christianity.
My animism has to do with understanding my writings and my photography, which are the backbone of this site. It underlies most everything I've done in my life. It underlies how I see and interact with the world.
Under "Photos" you'll find some of my photography, mostly from the last few years. You'll SEE what that has to do with animism.
I've also dabbled in the writing of poetry and fiction, the visual arts and graphic design, and music. Really dabbled. I make no claims to quality. Maybe next lifetime. Under "More" above, you'll find two categories of writings: "Poetry and Fiction" and "Essays and Nonfiction."
Then there's a section called "Origins," where I talk about ancestors and ancestry...and relatives...something that turns out to be fundamental to animism.
Eventually...the site is under construction, and will probably take me years to fill...
For most of my life I've been engaged in creative endeavors. For some, I've been employed. Yes, someone actually paid me to do fun, creative things! Thank you all for the opportunity!
I've been a writer, an editor, a photographer, a reporter, a public information officer, and a university lecturer. And yes, those last two are creative endeavors: many of the products in those fields are "fact driven, but unconstrained by the limits of reality." Really. Some of such writing will end up here because, well, I think it's an important part of what I've done, and I like it.
In selecting items to post on the site, I operate from the maxim of "Don't let the Perfect be the enemy of the Good."
Or, for that matter, of the barely adequate.
I hope you enjoy!
